Standing NATO Maritime Group 2 resumes anti-piracy mission

After busy months on patrol in the Gulf of Aden and Somali Basin, a task force of NATO warships handed over their counter-piracy mission (code-named Operation Ocean Shield) to the five ships currently comprising NATO Standing Maritime Group 2.

Allied forces gather for NATO's largest annual anti-submarine warfare exercise

“Noble Manta 10 has allowed practicing – with excellent results - potential missions to be conducted as part of the NATO Response Force, to include conducting multi-dimensional ASW in a simulated emerging crisis, when the submarine threat must be managed without immediate use of force." Vice Admiral Maurizio Gemignani said, as the exercise ended on 24 February.
Ten NATO nations tasked six submarines, 18 aircraft and eight surface ships to take part in Noble Manta, from 10 to 24 February.
